2022 Cottew Motorsport ISOC Shakopee Snocross Race Report

The kickoff to the 2022 snocross was held this past weekend at Canterbury Park in Shakopee, MN.
The event had frigid temperatures on Friday. Saturday’s warmer temperatures brought out the crowds for sure, and the snocross action did not disappoint.

The #201 Travis Kern made his pro debut this weekend. Jeff Cottew said Travis was ready for this next step up and can’t wait to see what this year brings for Travis. He was able to make it in the final on Friday going 4-7 in his heats and finishing 3rd in the LCQ. He was able to finish 12th in the final. Travis showed he has the speed with some good heats (finishing 2nd in round 1 on Saturday) and qualifying times on his Polaris snowmobile. A tangle with another sled off the start on Saturday’s LCQ caused him to miss the final. While that was disappointing to Travis, he still had a ton of fun and like us, can’t wait to see what the season brings.

#21 Pro rider Cole Cottew had a solid weekend. Friday night he went 4-4 in his rounds, finishing 9th in the final. On Sunday he had a tough start in round one and finished 7th. The second round went better, and he finished 3rd, which was just enough to earn the 10th pick on the front row of the final. Cole had a good start in his final, riding in 5th until a red flag caused a restart. He got caught in the slower lane on the restart and lost several positions. He was able to come back up and finish 6th. Cole really looked comfortable, and his times were right where he wanted them to be. He can’t wait to get back on the track in Iowa this weekend and continue with the momentum he is building.
For a first race weekend of the year, the Cottew Motorsports team is happy with the riders and the Polaris sleds. We are excited it’s a back to back race weekend so we can get back out there and get it done.
