Rounds 5 and 6 were held this past weekend January 29 & 30, 2021 in the historic town of Deadwood, SD.
Deadwood did not disappoint. This track is known for being tight. The straight start again this year definitely made the beginning of the races interesting to say the least.

We have such a love-hate relationship with Deadwood. Friday brought out the hate side, that’s for sure. Both rounds one and two were not easy ones. #201 Travis Kern and #21 Cole Cottew finished in the unlucky #13 spot in their finals. One thing we can say about Cottew Motorsports, every day is a new day and this teams works and digs deep to constantly improve, even with tough days like Friday.

Saturday brought out the side we love about Deadwood. #201 Travis Kern had some solid rounds, and a great start in the final found him in 4th place, but he was not going to settle for that. Travis worked hard, made smart passes, and found himself gold in Deadwood, finishing on top of the box in first! What a difference a day makes!! We are glad to celebrate this win for Travis, and for Cottew Motorsports!

#21 Cole Cottew had tough rounds, but a good start found him in a pretty solid 6th place for most of the race. Flagging brought some confusion at the last part of the race, and landed Cole in 9th for the finish. We are happy to see the speed improving with Cole, and can’t wait for that final piece of the puzzle to come together for him.

The unsung heroes of this weekend are the mechanics, everybody at Polaris, Walker Evans Shocks, and Speedwerx for putting in endless hours of testing and prepping to make sure we were as prepared as could be for the Deadwood race. Thanks Conrad Evans, Jeff Haskamp, and Corey Verdoljak for being the foundation to this team!

The team continues to be amazed by the support of Fly Racing. Cottew Motorsports would also like to thank Polaris, Fly Racing, Western Power Sports, Ditch Witch of Minnesota and Iowa, Aggressive Hydraulics, Hayford Ford, Bid 2 Buy, Amsoil, Walker Evans Shocks, Stud Boy Traction, Hanco Utilities, Northern Chill, Rox Speed FX, Caliber & C & A Pro Skis.
